Two Ways to Draw Groups

🎡

Spin to Pick

Team names appear on the wheel. Each spin picks one team and assigns it to the next group. Perfect for live ceremonies where the audience is watching every pick unfold in real time. Works best for up to 16 teams.

⚡

Quick Draw

The coloured wheel spins as a ceremony while teams are randomly assigned behind the scenes, then each assignment reveals one by one with a live status update. Works for any tournament size — 4 teams or 64 teams.

How to Do a Random Group Draw in 3 Steps

  1. 1

Frequently Asked Questions

A random group draw wheel is a free online tool that randomly splits a list of teams or players into groups. Instead of picking manually, you spin a wheel and the tool assigns each team to a group with a fair, unbiased random algorithm. It is commonly used in sports tournaments to create group stages before the knockout rounds.

There is no hard limit. The Spin to Pick mode works best for up to 16 teams because team names appear on the wheel segments. For larger tournaments — 32, 48, or 64 teams — use Quick Draw mode, which spins a coloured wheel as a visual ceremony while assigning all teams randomly in the background.

Yes. The tool uses a balanced random algorithm that first shuffles all teams randomly, then distributes them across groups so each group ends up with an equal (or near-equal) number of teams. No team has a higher chance of landing in any particular group, making it a fair and transparent draw process.

Absolutely. The group draw tool works for any sport or activity — football, kabaddi, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, kho-kho, pickleball, or even non-sports events like quiz competitions or debate rounds. Just enter team or participant names, choose your group count, and draw.

Yes, completely free. No sign-up, no account required, and no limits on how many times you can use it. It runs entirely in your browser — your team names are never sent to any server.

After the draw is complete, click the Copy Results button. This copies all group assignments as formatted text that you can paste directly into WhatsApp, Telegram, email, or any messaging app. You can also take a screenshot of the final results grid.

A group draw randomly assigns teams into groups (Group A, Group B, etc.) for the group stage. A fixture generator then creates the actual match schedule — who plays who, on which date and at what venue. AuctionPro does both: use this free tool for the draw, then sign up to generate fixtures, track live scores, and manage your full tournament.
