No Team Skips a Category

Set a minimum every team must buy from each category — say, at least 1 Icon Player and 2 Overseas players. AuctionPro tracks every team's progress live, and if a category's pool empties out before every team hits its minimum, the system handles it for you instead of leaving squads lopsided.

  • Set a compulsory minimum per category per team
  • Live progress tracking — every team, every category
  • System-conducted auctions auto-retry unsold players before moving on
  • Admin-run auctions get a simple re-auction-or-move-on prompt
  • Nothing blocks the auction — you're always still in control

Frequently Asked Questions

What are player categories in AuctionPro?

Categories (also called player groups) let you split your auction pool into custom buckets — Icon Players, A/B/C grade, Overseas, Local, or anything your event needs. Each category gets its own base price, and you set a compulsory minimum every team must buy from it, so squads come out balanced instead of one team hoarding all the top players.

How is this different from the Group Draw Wheel tool?

They solve different problems. The Group Draw Wheel randomly splits teams into pool-stage groups for a tournament — it has nothing to do with auctions. Player categories are entirely within a single auction: they organise the player pool itself and enforce how many players from each category every team must acquire.

What happens if a category runs out of players before a team meets its quota?

AuctionPro tracks this automatically. In system-conducted auctions, unsold players from a category are automatically re-offered before the auction moves on, so teams get a real chance to hit their minimum. In admin-run auctions, you get a simple prompt the moment a category empties out with unsold players remaining — re-auction the unsold ones first, or move on. Either way, nothing blocks the auction and it's always your call.

Can each category have a different base price?

Yes. Icon Players might start at ₹2,00,000 while a Local category starts at ₹20,000 — set it once per category and every player in it inherits that base price automatically, including players added later via CSV import.

Do spectators and team owners see which category a player belongs to?

Yes — the current player's category shows live on the auction screen, the public watch page, and the OBS broadcast overlay. After the auction, category names also appear on the public results page next to each player, so the squad breakdown is transparent to everyone.

Can I filter or bulk-assign players by category?

Yes. The player list has a category filter and column once categories exist, and you can bulk-assign players to a category with checkboxes, or set it per row in your CSV import — no need to open each player individually.
